The beads change colour from dark to light blue upon absorbing small amounts of moisture and turn pink after absorbing a large amount. A pink colour indicates that the gel beads have reached their capacity, and it's time for replacement. The indicating properties of blue silica gel beads make them suitable for sealed vessels; they are primarily used as an indicator to show the moisture level in a sealed container.
